Dear Families,
We are thankful!
As we prepare to take a short break from school for Thanksgiving, we want
to express our gratitude for everyone who makes it possible for as many
students as possible to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn.

We thank:
● Our students and families for making daily attendance a priority
since they know the habit of attendance will help them do well in
the classroom and eventually in a job.
● Our wonderful teachers who pour their energy into making each
classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge so
children do not want to miss out on learning
● Our support staff and community volunteers who provide the extra
hands and attention our children need

We appreciate each one of you so much. We look forward to seeing you
after the Thanksgiving holiday. We also hope you will keep in mind that
school is closed on Monday, November 23, 2020 – November 27, 2020 and
reopens Monday, November 30, 2020.
We especially appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off
during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just a few missed days here and there,
even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning
time and leave your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it
is in high school.

Dear Harmony Parents/Guardians,
Harmony Public Schools looks forward to educating your children during the 2020-2021 school year. We
have prepared this letter to inform you of Harmony’s policies and procedures as they relate to your
students’ attendance and academic success.
Please remind your student and keep these important absence points in mind:

  • When your student is absent from school, we must know that you are aware of that absence.
Therefore, parents must contact their school campus EACH DAY a student is absent.
  •  If a student is absent and we have not heard from that student’s parents or guardians, we will
notify the parent or guardian through the contact information on file. For this reason, it is most
important that you provide us your latest and best contact information.
  • Upon return to school, students have 3 days to provide a note of excuse that has been signed by
their parent/guardian or the medical provider. The note must describe the reason for the
  •  Page 14 of our Student/Parent Handbook provides a list of excused and unexcused absences.

*Unless your student is specifically exempt from compulsory attendance, your student will be placed in
our Truancy Prevention Measure (TPM) program at their campus to address your student’s attendance.
Please refer to the HPS 2020-2021 Student/Parent Handbook for additional information. We encourage
our students to attend school on a regular basis to achieve academic success.

Harmony School of Science will be hosting a food drive from November 16th- November 20th from 8am-4pm.  Bins will be located outside of the campus for your convenience.   Nonperishable items only please!

Due to the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in El Paso we will be postponing our Trunk or Treat event that we had rescheduled for November 19th until March, for Read Across America week.
We appreciate your understanding! Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

Starting Monday, November 9, 2020 through November 30, 2020, we will be having our Poppin Attendance Challenge. The grade level with the highest attendance average will win a Home Movie Night Package.
